The CLEVELAND C39153 is a double-end ball end mill designed for precision finishing operations in metal cutting applications. Built from high speed steel and coated with titanium nitride (TiN), it offers improved surface hardness and heat resistance compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The 0.5-inch diameter cutting end features two flutes with a 30-degree right-hand spiral helix, producing smooth chip evacuation and clean finish cuts. With a 0.8125-inch length of cut and 4.125-inch overall length, this end mill fits standard tool holders with a 0.5-inch shank. It is suited for machinists and toolroom operators running milling machines, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills.
This end mill is engineered for finishing cuts on cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. The double-end configuration extends tool life by providing two usable cutting ends per tool, reducing per-edge cost in production or job-shop environments. The regular-length profile makes it compatible with most standard tool holders without requiring extended-reach setups. It is well suited for profiling, contouring, and slotting operations where a ball nose geometry is required to produce radius features or blended surfaces.
Designed for use in standard 0.5-inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and milling machine spindles. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. Part of the CLEVELAND HD-2B series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's tooling specifications. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and locked out before loading or unloading the tool. Secure the 0.5-inch shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder and verify runout before beginning a cut. Inspect both cutting ends for damage or wear before use, particularly when rotating to the second end on a double-end tool.
