The CLEVELAND C33744 is a single-end square end mill designed for material removal in milling operations across a range of metalworking applications. It is ground from high speed steel (HSS) and features a bright, uncoated finish. The mill measures 0.4531 inches (29/64 inches) in cutting diameter with a 13/16-inch length of cut and a 3-1/4-inch overall length. Two right-hand spiral flutes and a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The straight cylindrical shank with a Weldon flat accepts standard end mill holders and set-screw style tool holders. This tool is centercutting, enabling direct plunge entry into the workpiece.
The C33744 is suited for milling operations on cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel in both job shop and production environments. Its regular-length geometry fits standard vertical milling machines, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills. The HG-2 series designation places it in Cleveland's high-performance HSS end mill line, making it appropriate for shops that need a reliable general-purpose end mill without extended reach requirements. Machinists and tool and die personnel are the primary installers and users of this tool.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders, collet chucks, and Weldon-style set-screw holders accepting a 1/2-inch shank diameter. Suitable for milling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel workpieces as specified by Cleveland for the HG-2 series.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following standard toolroom procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and power is locked out before loading or unloading the end mill. Verify that the tool holder bore is clean and that the Weldon flat is properly aligned with the set screw before tightening. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after seating the tool to avoid premature tool wear or workpiece dimensional error.
