The CLEVELAND C33730 is a square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal fabrication and machining environments. Built from high speed steel (HSS), this two-flute, single-end tool features a 5/32 inch (0.1563 inch) cutting diameter, a 7/16 inch (0.4380 inch) length of cut, and a 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank with a Weldon flat for secure tool holding. At 2-3/8 inches overall length, the C33730 belongs to the Cleveland HG-2 regular-length series. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry, and runs right-hand cut with right-hand spiral flutes at a 30-degree helix angle. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this end mill for slotting, profiling, and light to medium material removal.
The C33730 is suited for milling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. Its uncoated HSS construction makes it appropriate for conventional milling applications where regrinding and resharpening are part of the shop workflow. The regular length and compact cutting diameter make it well suited for close-tolerance work in die cavities, fixture components, and general job-shop part production. The two-flute design provides adequate chip clearance when slotting or working in confined pockets where chip evacuation matters.
The C33730 is compatible with primary workpiece materials including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. It accepts standard 3/8 inch straight-shank tool holders with Weldon flat set-screw retention, as used in collet chucks, end mill holders, and shell mill adapters on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation of this end mill should be performed by a qualified machinist following the tool holder manufacturer torque and runout specifications. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the tool. Ensure the Weldon flat is properly aligned with the set screw to prevent axial pullout under cutting loads. Verify runout at the cutting edge before beginning a production cut to avoid premature tool wear or part deviation.
