The CLEVELAND C33457 is a 4-flute, single-end square end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from high speed steel with a TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating, it delivers improved surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The 3/16 inch cutting diameter pairs with a 1-3/4 inch length of cut, making it well suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in tight-clearance areas. A 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation. Centercutting geometry allows plunge entry without a pilot hole. This tool is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on manual or CNC milling equipment.
The C33457 belongs to the CLEVELAND HG-4C series and is classified as an extra-long end mill, giving it added reach for deep-pocket and cavity work. It is suited for cutting cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. The 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank with Weldon flat accommodates standard end mill holders and set-screw-style toolholders. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry match conventional milling setups. The 3-9/16 inch overall length provides the clearance needed when working in deep setups where standard-length tools cannot reach.
Designed for use in standard end mill holders and Weldon-flat-style toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch shank. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel, consistent with CLEVELAND HG-4C series application guidance.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard toolholding procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing tooling. Verify that the toolholder set screw engages the Weldon flat squarely to prevent tool pullout under load. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after clamping before beginning any cut.
