The CLEVELAND C33442 is a 4-flute, single-end square end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of metalworking applications. Manufactured from high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) finish, it delivers improved surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The cutter measures 5/16 inch in diameter with a 2 inch length of cut, a 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical or Weldon flat shank, and a 3-3/4 inch overall length. The 30-degree spiral flute geometry and right-hand cut with right-hand flute direction promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. This is a centercutting tool, allowing plunge operations directly into the workpiece.
The C33442 is suited for milling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel in both manual and CNC machining setups. The extra-long length of cut classification makes it appropriate for applications requiring deeper slot or pocket milling than standard-length end mills allow. It is typically installed by machinists and toolroom technicians working on mill/drill centers, knee mills, and vertical machining centers across job shop, maintenance, and production environments.
Designed for use with standard 3/8 inch tool holders including ER collets, Weldon-flat side-lock holders, and similar milling chucks. Compatible with cast iron, non-ferrous metal, and steel workpiece materials per Series HG-4C application guidelines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard toolroom practices. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the power is locked out before installing or removing the end mill. Seat the shank fully in the tool holder and torque set screws to the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout at the cutting diameter with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, and select feeds and speeds appropriate for the workpiece material and cutting depth.
