The CLEVELAND C33440 is a 4-flute square end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers improved wear resistance and surface finish compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The mill measures 0.25 inches in diameter with a 1.75-inch length of cut, a 0.375-inch straight-cylindrical or Weldon flat shank, and an overall length of 3.5625 inches. A 30-degree spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation. This tool is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry into the workpiece without a pre-drilled hole. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use it in manual mills and CNC machining centers.
The C33440 belongs to the Cleveland HG-4C series, which targets general-purpose milling applications in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. Its extra-long length of cut makes it well suited for deep-pocket milling, slotting, and profile work where standard-length end mills lack the reach. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation make it compatible with conventional vertical and horizontal milling setups. It is appropriate for production shops, maintenance machining, and toolroom work requiring reliable performance across a range of workpiece materials.
Designed for use in standard end mill holders, collet chucks, and Weldon flat set-screw holders accepting a 0.375-inch shank. Rated for milling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel per Cleveland HG-4C series specifications.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and power is off before changing tooling. Verify the tool holder is clean and free of chips before seating the shank; contamination or wear in the holder bore will cause runout that shortens tool life. Consult your machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety standards for proper spindle speeds and feed rates for the workpiece material.
