The CLEVELAND C33289 is a square end mill designed for precision milling operations in machine shop and production environments. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) finish, this tool offers improved surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS. It features a 1-inch mill diameter, a 1-7/8-inch length of cut, and a 7/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank with a Weldon flat for positive tool retention. Overall length is 4-1/8 inches. The four-flute, right-hand spiral design with a 30-degree helix angle is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling. Centercutting geometry allows plunge entry into the workpiece. Installed by machinists and CNC operators on milling machines and machining centers.
This end mill is rated for use on cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel, covering a broad range of common workpiece materials in general machining. The HG-4C series regular-length geometry makes it a practical choice for standard-depth milling passes in both manual and CNC setups. The TiCN coating extends tool life in abrasive materials and higher-speed applications where an uncoated HSS tool would wear prematurely. The Weldon flat shank is compatible with standard end mill holders equipped for side-lock retention.
Designed for use in standard end mill holders and Weldon-style side-lock holders accepting a 7/8-inch shank diameter. Suitable for milling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel as identified in the HG-4C series specifications.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator following standard tooling change procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the Weldon flat against the set screw in the end mill holder and torque the holder set screw per the tool holder manufacturer guidelines. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut to confirm proper seating and minimize tool deflection.
