The CLEVELAND C32896 is a double-end cobalt square end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it carries a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating that improves surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated tooling. The 3/8-inch diameter cutting end features two spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle and a centercutting geometry, allowing both plunge and peripheral cuts. With a 9/16-inch length of cut and 3-1/2-inch overall length, this is a regular-length tool suited for general-purpose milling on CNC machining centers and manual mills. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users.
This end mill is engineered for cutting high-temperature alloys, stainless steel, and carbon and alloy steels — material groups P, M, and S in ISO classification. The HDC-2 series designation places it within a heavy-duty cobalt line intended for tougher workpiece materials that would accelerate wear in standard HSS tooling. The straight cylindrical shank with Weldon flat accommodates standard end mill holders and side-lock holders. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the standard setup for conventional and climb milling on most setups.
Designed for use in standard end mill holders and Weldon-style side-lock holders accepting a 3/8-inch shank diameter. Suitable for milling high-temperature alloys, stainless steel, and steels (ISO material groups P, M, and S) on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following standard toolroom practices. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or removing the end mill. Seat the shank fully into the holder and torque the set screw against the Weldon flat to the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, particularly when machining stainless or high-temperature alloys where tool deflection accelerates wear.
