The CLEVELAND C32890 is a cobalt square end mill designed for material removal in ferrous and high-temperature alloy applications. Built to M42 cobalt steel grade, it runs a 9/32-inch (0.2813 inch) cutting diameter with a 9/16-inch length of cut and a 3/8-inch straight-cylindrical or Weldon Flat shank. The 30-degree spiral flute geometry and TiCN finish work together to manage heat and extend tool life in demanding cuts. This is a double-end, centercutting tool, meaning it can plunge directly into a workpiece without a pre-drilled entry point. Machinists and toolroom technicians rely on it for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling where tool life in tough materials is the priority.
The C32890 belongs to Cleveland's HDC-2 series, which targets high-performance cutting in stainless steel, alloy steel, and high-temperature alloys. It is a regular-length end mill suited for general-purpose setups on knee mills, CNC machining centers, and manual vertical mills. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration make it compatible with standard spindle rotation. At 3-3/8 inches overall length with a 3/8-inch shank, it fits standard ER, collet chuck, or Weldon-style side-lock holders commonly found in production and maintenance machining environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and direct-fit cutting tool for standard 3/8-inch shank toolholders used in vertical machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines. Primary workpiece materials listed are high-temperature alloy, stainless steel, and steel (material codes S, M, and P).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Secure the shank fully into the toolholder to the recommended engagement depth before tightening — insufficient engagement increases runout and risk of tool pullout. Confirm spindle rotation direction matches the right-hand cut specification before starting the spindle. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use, particularly after cutting abrasive or work-hardening alloys.
