The CLEVELAND C32639 is a cobalt square end mill designed for demanding metal removal in ferrous and high-temperature alloy applications. Built to M42 cobalt grade, it carries a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) finish that improves surface hardness and extends tool life compared to uncoated HSS. The cutter measures 1 inch in diameter with a 2-inch length of cut, a 1-inch straight-cylindrical or Weldon flat shank, and a 4.5-inch overall length. Four right-hand spiral flutes at a 30-degree helix angle promote smooth chip evacuation and stable cutting. Centercutting geometry allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance shops install this tool in manual or CNC milling machines.
The C32639 is suited for milling stainless steel, high-temperature alloys (such as nickel- and titanium-based materials), and general carbon and alloy steels. It belongs to the HGC-4C series, which targets high-performance cutting in difficult-to-machine materials where tool wear is a primary concern. The 2-inch length of cut accommodates moderate-depth slotting and profiling operations. The regular-length configuration keeps tool deflection low in rigid setups, making it a practical choice for production and maintenance machining environments.
Designed for use in standard end mill holders, Weldon-flat collet chucks, or side-lock holders accepting a 1-inch shank diameter. Rated for primary workpiece materials including high-temperature alloys, stainless steel, and steel (material codes S, M, and P).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following standard toolroom practice. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before installing or removing the cutter. Seat the shank fully in the holder and, when using a Weldon flat holder, align the set screw to the flat to prevent axial pullout under load. Verify runout with a dial indicator before production cuts; excessive runout accelerates edge chipping in cobalt tooling.
