The CLEVELAND C32217 is a single-end square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in metalworking environments. Built from powdered metal (PM) high-speed steel, this tool carries a titanium nitride (TiN) coating that extends cutting edge life and reduces friction during operation. The cutter measures 0.375 inches in diameter with a 1.5-inch length of cut (LOC) and a 3.25-inch overall length (OAL). The 0.375-inch shank diameter matches the cutting diameter, making it compatible with standard collet chucks and end mill holders. Machinists and toolroom operators use this style of end mill for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling on ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This end mill is suited for use in manual knee mills, CNC machining centers, and tool-and-die work where a coarse-pitch, four-flute design is appropriate. The spiral flute geometry at a 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and stable cutting action. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the standard orientation for conventional and climb milling on vertical and horizontal spindles. It is a practical choice for job shops, maintenance machining, and production work requiring repeatable results in steel, cast iron, and similar materials.
Designed as a standard single-end square end mill in the CLEVELAND PMRC Series, compatible with 0.375-inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and set-screw-style tool holders used on vertical and horizontal milling machines.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine powered down or locked out per applicable safety procedures. Secure the shank fully within the holder to the recommended engagement depth — do not allow the flutes to contact the holder bore. Verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting if tight tolerances are required. This tool is intended for use by qualified machinists familiar with feed, speed, and depth-of-cut selection for the work material.
