The CLEVELAND C24234 is a taper pin reamer designed to enlarge, finish, and shape tapered holes for standard taper pin applications. Built from high-speed steel (HSS), it delivers consistent cutting performance across a range of workpiece materials. The reamer features a helical flute geometry with a right-hand cut and left-hand spiral, a combination that reduces chatter and produces a smooth finish. The small end diameter measures 0.1137 inches and the large end measures 0.1462 inches, conforming to the 2/0 taper pin standard at a taper rate of 1:48. Overall length is 2.5625 inches with a flute length of 1.5625 inches. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the primary installers of this tool.
The C24234 is suited for general-purpose hole finishing in production and maintenance environments. It is used wherever 2/0 taper pins must be fitted precisely, including shaft-to-hub connections, mechanical linkages, and precision assemblies. The straight shank measures 0.1563 inches (5/32 inches) in diameter, making it compatible with standard drill press and milling machine collets or chucks. Primary workpiece materials include aluminum, steel, and steel alloy. The bright, uncoated finish is appropriate for general-purpose cutting applications without the added cost of specialty coatings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use reamer for applications requiring a 2/0 taper pin fit. Compatible with aluminum, steel, and steel alloy workpieces per manufacturer specification.
This reamer is installed and operated by machinists or skilled trade professionals using a drill press, milling machine, or tapping fixture. Secure the straight shank firmly in a collet or drill chuck before operation, and ensure the workpiece is clamped to prevent movement. Use appropriate cutting fluid for steel workpieces to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Never apply excessive feed pressure, as taper reamers are designed for light, controlled material removal.
