The CLEVELAND C17000 is a cobalt jobber length drill bit engineered for demanding metal-cutting applications. Manufactured from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it carries a TiAlN coating that extends tool life in abrasive and high-heat drilling environments. The bit measures 7/16 inches in diameter with a 5.5 inches overall length and a 4-1/16 inches flute length. The 135-degree split point reduces thrust and self-centers on contact, minimizing the need for a center punch. This is a heavy-duty, professional-grade drill bit installed by machinists, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors working in fabrication, industrial maintenance, and field service.
The C17000 is designed for drilling cast iron and stainless steel, two of the most tool-wearing workpiece materials in trade and industrial applications. The parabolic flute geometry improves chip evacuation during deep-hole drilling, reducing heat buildup and the risk of bit deflection. With a straight-cylindrical shank sized at 7/16 inches, it seats securely in standard three-jaw chucks and keyless chucks common on corded drills, drill presses, and magnetic base drills. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional drill press and hand-drill operation.
Designed for use in any standard drill press, hand drill, or magnetic base drill equipped with a 7/16 inches or larger chuck capacity. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron and stainless steel. Suitable for use in fabrication shops, mechanical rooms, and field service applications requiring heavy-duty metal drilling performance.
This drill bit is installed by machinists, pipefitters, HVAC mechanics, and industrial maintenance technicians. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling and verify chuck engagement before starting the tool. When drilling stainless steel, use appropriate cutting fluid to reduce heat and extend bit life. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or excessive wear is present at the tip.
