Manufactured from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiAlN coating, this bit is built for drilling hard and abrasive materials in demanding shop and field environments. The 135-degree split point initiates cutting without a center punch and reduces walking on entry. A parabolic flute geometry improves chip evacuation and reduces heat buildup during deep drilling. Overall length is 2.25 inches, with a 1.25-inch flute length and a straight-cylindrical shank. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance mechanics are the primary users.
This bit is suited for drilling cast iron and stainless steel in both production machining and maintenance-repair operations. The parabolic flute and TiAlN coating work together to extend tool life when cutting work-hardening alloys such as 304 and 316 stainless steel. This bit is installed by a machinist or maintenance technician into any chuck accepting a 0.0890-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Secure the workpiece completely before beginning the cut to prevent deflection on small-diameter drills. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant rated for cobalt tooling when drilling stainless steel to manage heat buildup.
