The CLEVELAND C16767 is a taper length twist drill bit engineered for demanding material removal in professional shop and field applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a black oxide coating, this bit handles the heat and abrasion generated when drilling hard metals and alloys. It carries a wire gauge size of 44, which corresponds to a decimal diameter of 0.0860 inches, and features a 135-degree split point that self-centers on contact, reducing the need for a center punch. The parabolic flute geometry improves chip evacuation and reduces torque buildup during deep-hole drilling operations.
This drill bit is suited for machining, maintenance, and fabrication work across a wide range of materials including aluminum, brass, carbon steel, cast iron, nickel alloy, plastic, stainless steel, and tool steel. The taper length configuration provides additional flute length compared to a jobber-length bit, making it appropriate for applications requiring reach into deeper holes or recessed surfaces. It is a right-hand cut bit with a straight cylindrical shank, compatible with standard drill chucks used in drill presses, lathes, and handheld power drills.
Designed for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks. Rated for drilling aluminum, brass, carbon steel, cast iron, nickel alloy, plastic, stainless steel, and tool steel. Part of the Cleveland Series 2575 heavy-duty cobalt drill line.
Install and remove drill bits only with the machine fully powered down and the chuck key removed from the chuck. Secure the workpiece with a vise or clamp before drilling to prevent rotation under load. Use cutting fluid when drilling stainless steel, nickel alloys, or tool steel to extend bit life and maintain dimensional tolerance. Inspect the split point for chipping or wear before reuse, as a damaged point will affect hole location accuracy.
