The CLEVELAND C16674 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous metals and other hard materials. Manufactured from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with Titanium Nitride (TiN), the C16674 delivers extended tool life and improved chip evacuation compared to standard HSS bits. The drill measures 11/64 inches (0.1719 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 3.25 inches and a 135-degree split point that reduces walking on entry and lowers required thrust. The parabolic flute geometry promotes faster chip removal, making this bit well-suited for production drilling in steel and cast iron. Installation and use are handled by machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators working on metal fabrication, repair, and assembly tasks.
The C16674 is engineered for drilling in steel and cast iron in both production shop and field maintenance environments. Its heavy-duty grade classification and M42 material make it appropriate for interrupted cuts, stainless-adjacent alloys, and other demanding ferrous drilling applications. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks across benchtop drill presses, magnetic drills, and handheld power drills. The 2-1/8-inch flute length provides adequate chip clearance for through-holes typical of jobber-length work in structural and plate steel.
Designed for drilling steel and cast iron as the primary workpiece materials. Compatible with standard drill chucks accepting a straight cylindrical shank of 0.1719 inches diameter. Conforms to ASME B94.11M and DIN 338 jobber-length drill standards.
Install and operate this drill bit using standard drill chuck equipment rated for the intended RPM and material. Secure the workpiece before drilling to prevent rotation and ensure consistent hole quality. Always wear appropriate eye protection and follow applicable shop safety procedures when operating rotary cutting tools. Inspect the cutting edge before each use and replace the bit if chipping or excessive wear is observed.
