The CLEVELAND C16644 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for demanding metal drilling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with titanium nitride (TiN), this bit delivers extended tool life and improved wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. It features a 135-degree split point for fast penetration and reduced walking on entry, and a parabolic flute geometry that improves chip evacuation in deep holes. Overall length is 2.75 inches with a flute length of 1.625 inches. The 0.1160-inch diameter corresponds to wire gauge size 32. Manufactured to ASME B94.11M and DIN 338 standards, the C16644 suits machinists, maintenance mechanics, and fabricators working with stainless steel, high-alloy steels, and other hard materials.
This bit is suited for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held power tools where a straight-cylindrical shank is accepted. The Series 2075T designation places it in a heavy-duty classification, making it appropriate for production and job-shop environments where tool longevity matters. Its small diameter makes it common in sheet metal work, precision fixturing, and applications requiring close-tolerance holes in the 0.1000 to 0.1500 inch diameter range. Install in a drill chuck or collet sized for a 0.1160-inch straight-cylindrical shank, ensuring the bit is fully seated and the chuck is tightened before operation. Always set spindle speed appropriate for the workpiece material and bit diameter per standard machining reference charts. Wear appropriate eye protection, secure the workpiece, and use cutting fluid when drilling stainless or high-alloy steels to reduce heat buildup. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use and do not force a dull bit.
