The CLEVELAND C16565 is a heavy-duty cobalt jobber length drill bit engineered for demanding drilling applications in hard and abrasive materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a gold oxide coating, this bit delivers superior heat resistance and extended tool life compared to standard HSS bits. The 135-degree split point geometry reduces walking on entry and requires less thrust to initiate the cut. The parabolic flute design promotes rapid chip evacuation, keeping the cutting zone clear during deep-hole operations. This bit is a standard choice for machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators working on production or field drilling tasks.
The C16565 is suited for drilling cast iron, stainless steel, carbon steel, and non-ferrous metals in both shop and field environments. The straight cylindrical shank accommodates standard 3-jaw drill chucks across a wide range of drill presses, hand drills, and CNC machines. The parabolic flute geometry is especially effective when drilling deep holes in gummy or work-hardening materials such as stainless steel where chip packing is a common problem. This is a single-piece, individually packaged bit appropriate for toolroom stock or direct job use.
Designed as a jobber length drill bit for use with standard 3-jaw drill chucks on drill presses, hand drills, and CNC equipment where a 7/32-inch straight cylindrical shank bit is required. Rated for drilling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and carbon steel per the manufacturer specification.
This bit is installed by a machinist or qualified technician into a compatible drill chuck and tightened securely with a chuck key before operation. Secure the workpiece with appropriate fixturing before drilling to prevent movement. Use cutting fluid or coolant appropriate for the workpiece material when drilling stainless steel or hardened steel to reduce heat buildup and extend bit life. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use and replace the bit if chipping or dullness is observed.
