The CLEVELAND C15933 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for demanding metal-cutting applications in industrial and maintenance environments. Built to Series 3780 standards and rated as heavy duty, it carries an M42 cobalt material grade and an oxide coating for added surface hardness and heat resistance. The split point tip at 135 degrees reduces walking on entry and lowers required thrust force, making it well-suited for work in hard, abrasive, or tough-to-machine metals. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, millwrights, and maintenance mechanics are the primary installers of this bit class.
This bit is engineered for drilling into superalloys, hardened steels, stainless steel, and similarly challenging workpiece materials where standard high-speed steel bits lose edge quickly. With a wire gauge size of 16 (0.1770 inches decimal), a fast spiral flute, and a right-hand cutting direction, it maintains chip clearance and cutting efficiency in deep-hole applications. The straight-cylindrical shank allows direct chucking in standard drill presses, CNC machining centers, or hand drills with a compatible chuck capacity. It conforms to ASME B94.11M and carries a NAS specification designation.
Designed as a heavy-duty jobber-length drill bit compatible with any standard drill press, CNC machining center, or portable drill fitted with a chuck accommodating a 0.1770-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Intended for use in superalloy, hardened steel, and stainless steel workpieces per Series 3780 application parameters.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or maintenance mechanics. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the chuck and confirm runout is within acceptable tolerance before drilling. Ensure the workpiece is clamped or fixtured securely to prevent movement during cutting. Apply appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to manage heat buildup, even though this bit does not support coolant-through delivery.
