The CLEVELAND C15307 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-speed, high-production drilling in demanding materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this bit handles alloy steels and aluminum without breaking down under heat. It carries a 135-degree split point angle with web thinning for self-centering and reduced thrust on entry. The parabolic flute design evacuates chips efficiently, keeping the cut clean. Overall length is 2-3/16 inches with a straight-cylindrical shank diameter of 0.1730 inches, making it compatible with standard drill chucks and quick-change holders. This bit is manufactured to ASME B94.11M and ANSI specification standards, giving machinists and fabricators a verifiable quality benchmark.
The C15307 is suited for screw machine operations, turret lathes, CNC machining centers, and bench drilling setups where short, rigid tooling is required. Wire size 17, with a decimal equivalent of 0.1730 inches, is a common callout in precision hole work for fastener clearance, tapping prep, and close-tolerance bores. The 135-degree split point performs well on aluminum and alloy workpieces where a standard 118-degree point tends to walk. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional drill press and CNC spindle rotation. This bit is sold individually but requires a minimum order quantity of 10 units per order.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and production drill bit for use in screw machine, CNC, and bench drilling setups requiring wire size 17 (0.1730 inches) diameter tooling in the 2175N series.
Installation of drill bits should be performed by a machinist or qualified tradesperson with the spindle fully stopped and the machine powered down or locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully within the chuck jaws to the maximum grip depth before tightening. Inspect the cutting edges and split point for chips or wear before each use. Do not exceed the recommended speed and feed rates for the workpiece material being drilled.
