The CLEVELAND C15262 is a screw machine length cobalt drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in tough workpiece materials. Built to ASME B94.11M standards, this 0.25 inch (E) diameter bit features a 135-degree split point for fast penetration and reduced walking on entry. The parabolic flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation, and the web-thinned, parallel web configuration reduces thrust requirements. At 2.5 inches overall length, the screw machine format provides increased rigidity over jobber-length bits, making it well suited for CNC and production drilling applications where runout and deflection must be minimized. The M42 cobalt material grade delivers heat and wear resistance for extended tool life in abrasive and work-hardening materials.
The C15262 is intended for drilling alloy steels, aluminum, and similar materials in production or maintenance environments. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders without modification. The screw machine length format is a common choice for machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes where stub rigidity is preferred. The 1.375 inch flute length accommodates typical through-hole depths in the target workpiece range. This bit is sold individually per package with a minimum order quantity of 10 units, making it appropriate for stocking in machine shops, maintenance facilities, and tool cribs.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or stocking bit for applications requiring a 0.25 inch (Letter E) straight-shank screw machine drill in cobalt; compatible with the Series 2175N product family covering the 0.2500 to 0.3000 inch diameter range. Fits standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with cutting tool selection and machine operation. Ensure the drill chuck or collet is properly tightened and the workpiece is securely fixtured before beginning any drilling operation. Appropriate cutting fluid or coolant application is recommended when drilling alloy steels to manage heat buildup, even though this bit is not coolant-through rated. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit at the first sign of dulling or chipping to maintain hole quality and avoid workpiece damage.
