The CLEVELAND C15062 is a screw machine length cobalt drill bit sized at letter E, equivalent to 0.25 inches in diameter. Designed for high-speed drilling in demanding applications, this bit features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking and allows for fast penetration without a center punch. The parabolic flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation, and the web-thinned construction lowers cutting forces. At 2.5 inches overall length, the stub-length profile fits tight clearance situations common in machining and fabrication environments. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and industrial maintenance mechanics are the primary users.
This bit is suited for drilling alloy steel, aluminum, and other metals in production machining, maintenance repair, and fabrication setups. The screw machine length format is standard in drill presses, CNC machines, and turret lathes where reduced overhang and rigidity matter. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks without modification. The M42 cobalt material grade provides heat resistance for higher feed rates and extended tool life compared to standard high-speed steel bits.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 0.25-inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for drilling alloy steel and aluminum as a screw machine length replacement bit in Series 2175A applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician. Ensure the machine is powered down and the chuck is fully locked before beginning drilling operations. Confirm chuck runout is within tolerance before use, as excessive runout will accelerate wear on a precision-ground cobalt bit. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine manufacturer guidelines for feed rate and spindle speed when drilling alloy materials.
