The CLEVELAND C15060 is a cobalt screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding shop and field applications. Built to ASME B94.11M standards, it features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust requirements compared to conventional 118-degree points. The parabolic flute geometry improves chip evacuation, making it effective for deeper holes in tough materials. At 2.375 inches overall length, the stub-length body provides added rigidity over jobber-length bits, which helps maintain accuracy in short-stroke or turret-type setups. Licensed trades and machining professionals working with alloy steels and aluminum will find this bit a reliable daily-use tool.
This bit is suited for drilling alloy steel, aluminum, and similar workpiece materials in both production and maintenance-repair environments. The screw machine length format is a common choice for drill press, CNC turret, and hand-held power tool work where a shorter, stiffer bit reduces deflection. The straight cylindrical shank seats directly into standard chucks without adapters. M42 cobalt material grade provides heat resistance for dry or lightly lubricated cutting conditions where high-speed steel would degrade faster.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-supply drill bit for use in any chuck accepting a straight cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are alloy steel and aluminum per Series 2175A design intent.
This bit is installed by qualified machinists, maintenance mechanics, or trained tradespeople operating drill presses, turret lathes, or power drills. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before engaging the workpiece. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing bits. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant where required by the workpiece material to extend bit life.
