The CLEVELAND C15059 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-production drilling in alloy steel, aluminum, and similar materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, the C15059 runs hotter without losing hardness, making it a reliable choice for abrasive or tough-to-cut workpieces. The 135-degree split point reduces thrust force and self-centers on contact, eliminating the need for a center punch in most applications. Overall length is 2.25 inches with a 1.1875-inch parabolic flute that evacuates chips efficiently at higher feed rates. This bit meets ASME B94.11M standards and carries an ANSI specification designation.
The C15059 is suited for screw machine operations, CNC drilling, and general shop use where a stub-length bit provides added rigidity over jobber-length alternatives. The straight cylindrical shank, 0.2031 inches in diameter, seats directly in standard drill chucks and collets without adapters. Primary workpiece materials include alloy steels and aluminum. The parabolic flute geometry and web-thinned construction support higher penetration rates with less heat buildup compared to standard twist geometry. This bit is used by machinists and toolroom professionals in both production and maintenance environments.
Designed for use in screw machines, CNC machining centers, and standard drill presses where a 13/64-inch, straight-shank stub-length cobalt drill bit is specified. Primary workpiece materials listed by the manufacturer are alloy steel and aluminum.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Secure the straight cylindrical shank fully within the chuck or collet before operation. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material. Inspect the cutting edges and point geometry before each use and discard or resharpen bits showing visible wear or chipping.
