The CLEVELAND C14829 is a screw machine length cobalt drill bit designed for high-speed drilling in tough workpiece materials including alloy steels and aluminum. It has a 0.2362-inch diameter, a 135-degree split point for self-centering entry, and a web-thinned construction that reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. The overall length is 1.102 inches, making it compact for close-quarters drilling in screw machine and production environments. Built to M42 cobalt material grade, this bit handles the heat and wear demands of heavy-duty production drilling. It is sold individually and conforms to ASME B94.11M and DIN 1897 standards.
This bit is suited for production machining, screw machine work, and repetitive drilling operations in metal fabrication shops, machine shops, and manufacturing facilities. The short flute length and straight-cylindrical shank allow it to seat securely in standard drill chucks and collets. It performs well in applications where heat buildup is a concern and where dimensional consistency across a production run is required. The 135-degree split point geometry reduces walking on entry without requiring a center punch on most metal surfaces.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use cobalt drill bit for screw machine and production drilling setups requiring a 0.2362-inch diameter bit in the 0.2000 to 0.2500-inch drill size range.
This bit is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in drill presses, screw machines, and CNC drilling equipment. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation to prevent runout. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use, particularly when drilling alloy steels, as cobalt bits can chip if run at incorrect speeds or feeds. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine manufacturer guidelines for drill speed and feed rate selection.
