The CLEVELAND C14611 is a screw machine length cobalt drill bit designed for high-speed metal drilling in demanding shop and field applications. Wire size 12 with a decimal diameter of 0.1890 inches, it features a 135-degree split point for fast engagement and reduced walking on hard surfaces. The M42 cobalt construction handles elevated cutting temperatures generated when drilling alloy steels and aluminum. The web-thinned, parallel-web design reduces thrust load and extends cutting life. This bit is used by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance trades working on production runs or precision drilling tasks where stub-length control is required.
The C14611 is suited for short-reach drilling operations in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held power drills where a compact overall length improves rigidity and accuracy. Primary workpiece materials include alloy steel and aluminum. The straight-cylindrical shank accepts standard three-jaw chucks and collet holders. The shortened screw machine length body reduces deflection in tight-clearance setups. Series 2133 heavy-duty grade construction makes it appropriate for repetitive production drilling where standard high-speed steel bits lose edge retention prematurely.
Designed as an OEM-style screw machine length drill bit compatible with standard three-jaw chucks and collet systems accepting a 0.1890-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and portable power tools configured for stub-length tooling.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Ensure the chuck or collet is fully tightened and the spindle is at a full stop before inserting or removing the bit. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling alloy steels to manage heat buildup, as this bit does not support through-coolant delivery. Inspect the cutting edge before each use and replace when chipping or edge rounding is observed to maintain hole-diameter tolerance.
