The CLEVELAND C14505 is a screw machine length cobalt drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding production and maintenance applications. Sized at wire gauge 57 (0.0430 inch decimal equivalent), this bit features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking on entry and lowers the thrust required to start a hole. The two-flute, right-hand spiral design evacuates chips efficiently while the M42 cobalt construction delivers heat resistance and edge retention well beyond standard high-speed steel. Web thinning further reduces cutting resistance, making this bit well suited for repetitive drilling cycles on hard or abrasive materials.
This bit is intended for use in screw machine operations, CNC drilling, and manual drill press work where a shorter, stiffer cutting tool is required. Its compact 1.375 inch overall length and 0.5 inch flute length make it appropriate for shallow-hole applications in alloy steels and aluminum. Licensed machinists, toolroom technicians, and industrial maintenance trades are the primary installers. The Series 2133 designation confirms this as a heavy-duty grade bit built to ASME B94.11M and DIN 1897 standards with ANSI and DIN specification compliance.
Designed as a screw machine length replacement or production drill bit for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks on screw machines, CNC machining centers, and bench drill presses where a 0.0430 inch diameter hole is required in alloy steel or aluminum workpieces.
This bit is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians in straight-shank drill chucks or collet holders rated for the 0.0430 inch shank diameter. Confirm the chuck or collet is clean and fully seated before engaging the spindle. Run at speeds and feeds appropriate for cobalt tooling in the target workpiece material per published machining data tables. Do not exceed the recommended feed rate, as micro-diameter cobalt bits are susceptible to breakage under side load or excessive feed pressure.
