The CLEVELAND C14502 is a cobalt screw machine length drill bit sized to wire gauge 59, equivalent to 0.0410 inch diameter. Built to Series 2133 specifications, it features a 135-degree split point for fast engagement and reduced walking on hard or tough workpiece materials. The overall length of 1-3/8 inches and shortened flute length of 1/2 inch are characteristic of screw machine geometry, which provides added rigidity for use in high-cycle drilling operations. The M42 cobalt material grade gives this bit elevated heat resistance and edge retention when cutting alloy steels and aluminum. Right-hand spiral flutes evacuate chips efficiently during drilling.
Screw machine length drill bits are used in production drilling environments where rigidity and repeatability matter. The C14502 is well suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, turret lathes, and screw machines working with alloy steel and aluminum workpieces. The web-thinned, split-point geometry reduces thrust requirements, making it effective in both manual and automated drilling applications where precise entry and consistent hole geometry are required. This bit is typically selected by machinists and toolroom technicians running tight-tolerance, high-volume operations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct tooling option for any setup requiring a wire gauge 59, 0.0410 inch diameter screw machine length drill bit with a straight cylindrical shank. Conforms to ASME B94.11M and DIN 1897 standards for screw machine length drills.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank firmly in a properly sized drill chuck or collet before use, and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Inspect the cutting edges for damage before each use; cobalt bits should not be forced through work-hardened material at feeds or speeds outside the recommended range for the workpiece material. Dispose of worn bits per shop protocol and applicable safety guidelines.
