The CLEVELAND C14264 is a screw machine length (stub) drill bit designed for high-production drilling in a wide range of materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it handles heat-resistant and abrasive workpiece materials that would quickly wear standard HSS tooling. The 135-degree split point starts on contact without a center punch and reduces thrust load compared to a conventional 118-degree point. An oxide straw coating provides light lubricity and corrosion resistance. At 2-1/16 inches overall length with a 1-inch parabolic flute, this stub-length geometry increases rigidity and reduces deflection in short-hole drilling applications. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical contractors reach for stub bits when drilling through structural members, sheet metal, or panel boxes where a jobber-length bit would flex.
The C14264 is suited for drilling aluminum, brass, carbon steel, cast iron, nickel alloy, plastics, stainless steel, and tool steel. Its parabolic flute geometry improves chip evacuation in deep-hole passes and sticky materials like stainless. The straight-cylindrical shank accepts standard three-jaw drill chucks and most screw machine collet systems. This bit is a practical choice for repetitive production runs on a drill press, CNC screw machine, or hand-held drill motor where short, rigid tooling improves hole location and finish quality.
Designed as a direct-use screw machine length drill bit compatible with any standard three-jaw chuck or straight-shank collet accepting a 0.1520-inch diameter shank, across drill press, CNC screw machine, and hand-drill applications.
Install and remove drill bits only with the drill motor or machine fully stopped and de-energized. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a properly sized chuck or collet to prevent slippage under torque. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material, particularly on stainless steel and nickel alloys, to extend tool life. Wear ANSI-rated eye protection when operating any rotary cutting tool.
