The CLEVELAND C14262 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-speed drilling in demanding industrial and trade applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this heavy-duty bit carries a wire gauge size 22, equivalent to 0.1570 inches in decimal diameter. The 135-degree split point and parabolic flute geometry reduce walking on entry and improve chip evacuation, making this bit a reliable choice for production drilling and maintenance work. An oxide straw coating provides added surface hardness and corrosion resistance. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without additional tooling.
This drill bit is suited for use on a wide range of workpiece materials including aluminum, brass, carbon steel, cast iron, nickel alloy, plastics, stainless steel, and tool steel. The screw machine length profile, which runs shorter overall than jobber-length bits, increases rigidity and reduces deflection in drill press, turret lathe, and CNC setup work. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and maintenance mechanics working in fabrication or repair environments will find this bit well matched to repetitive, close-tolerance drilling tasks.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 0.1570-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible with drill presses, CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and hand-held power drills configured for screw machine length tooling. Part of the Cleveland Series 2175 heavy-duty cobalt drill program.
Install and remove this bit with the machine fully powered down and the spindle at a complete stop. Secure the straight shank firmly in the drill chuck or collet to the rated holding depth before operation. Use appropriate speeds and feeds for the workpiece material — cobalt bits tolerate higher heat than standard HSS but still benefit from proper cutting fluid on stainless steel and nickel alloys. Inspect the cutting edges and point geometry before each use; a chipped or dull split point will increase thrust force and reduce hole accuracy.
