The CLEVELAND C14208 is a cobalt screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial and trade applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers superior heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS bits. The 135-degree split point reduces walking and allows drilling to start without a center punch. With an overall length of 2-3/16 inches and a diameter of 3/16 inches (0.1875 inches), this stub-length bit provides increased rigidity and reduced deflection. It is suited for use in drill presses, CNC machines, and handheld power tools by machinists, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians working with hard or abrasive materials.
This bit is built for drilling alloy steel, aluminum, and other demanding workpiece materials where standard HSS tooling wears prematurely. The screw machine length format makes it a reliable choice in tight clearance environments or wherever a shorter, stiffer bit is required. The parabolic flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation, reducing heat buildup and extending tool life during deep or interrupted cuts. Series 2175 identifies the product family within the CLEVELAND line, and the bit conforms to ASME B94.11M standards.
Designed as a screw machine length replacement or general-use drill bit for applications requiring a 3/16-inch diameter cobalt bit with a straight-cylindrical shank compatible with standard 3/8-inch or 1/2-inch drill chucks and CNC toolholders.
This bit is installed and replaced by machinists, maintenance technicians, or any trade professional operating drill presses, CNC machines, or power hand drills. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the chuck before operation and verify the workpiece is clamped or fixtured to prevent movement. Use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling alloy steel to manage heat and extend bit life. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use and discard bits with chipped or deformed points to avoid workpiece damage or breakage.
