The CLEVELAND C14201 is a screw machine length cobalt drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in tough materials. Built to M42 cobalt grade standards, this bit features a 5/64 inch (0.0781 inch decimal) diameter and a 135-degree split point with web thinning for fast penetration and reduced walking on entry. The oxide straw coating provides added lubricity and heat resistance. The shortened overall length of 1-11/16 inches makes it well suited for close-quarters drilling and rigid setups where a jobber-length bit would flex. Licensed tradespeople and machinists working in production or maintenance environments will find this bit handles a wide range of substrate hardnesses without frequent resharpening.
The C14201 is intended for use in metalworking and light fabrication applications where accurate, repeatable hole sizing is required. The parabolic flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation, which is especially useful when drilling into aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, carbon steel, nickel alloy, tool steel, brass, and engineering plastics. The straight cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and machine collets, making this bit compatible with hand drills, drill presses, CNC machines, and screw machine setups. Right-hand cut direction is standard for conventional clockwise-rotation equipment.
Designed for use with aluminum, brass, carbon steel, cast iron, nickel alloy, plastics, stainless steel, and tool steel workpieces. Fits any standard drill chuck or collet accepting a 0.0781 inch straight cylindrical shank.
This bit is installed by a machinist or maintenance technician into a drill press, hand drill, or screw machine with a compatible chuck. Secure the shank fully before operation and confirm chuck tightness to prevent slippage under load. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for ferrous and stainless steel applications to manage heat, even though this bit does not support through-coolant. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or excessive wear is observed.
