The CLEVELAND C13101 is an aircraft extension drill bit designed for precision drilling in tight or deep-access locations where a standard-length bit cannot reach. Built from high-speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, the C13101 features a 135-degree split point that is self-centering and reduces walking on entry, making it well suited for work on sheet metal, aluminum, and similar materials. The 6-inch overall length provides the extended reach required in aerospace-style and structural applications. With a 1/16-inch diameter and a tapered, web-thinned construction, this bit delivers clean, accurate holes with minimal feed pressure.
This drill bit is used in applications that demand extended reach and precise hole placement, including aircraft assembly, sheet metal fabrication, structural metalwork, and automotive bodywork. The spiral flute design efficiently clears chips during drilling, reducing heat buildup and extending tool life. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks without adapters, making it compatible with corded and cordless drills as well as drill presses. It conforms to NAS 907 Type B standards, making it appropriate for controlled aerospace and industrial environments.
Designed as a general-purpose aircraft extension drill bit suitable for use with standard drill chucks accepting a 1/16-inch straight cylindrical shank, conforming to NAS 907 Type B specifications.
This bit is installed and operated by machinists, aerospace technicians, sheet metal workers, and trained fabricators. Secure the straight shank firmly in the drill chuck before operation and verify the workpiece is clamped or fixtured to prevent movement. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubrication when drilling harder metals to extend bit life and maintain hole quality. Operate at the recommended surface speed for the material being drilled and avoid excessive feed pressure, which can cause premature tip wear or bit breakage given the small diameter.
