The CLEVELAND C12234 is a taper shank twist drill bit designed for production drilling in metal fabrication, machining, and industrial maintenance applications. Built from high-speed steel with an oxide finish, this bit offers reliable wear resistance during general-purpose drilling operations. It measures 55/64 inches (0.8594 inches) in diameter, with a 6.125-inch flute length and a 10.75-inch overall length. The 118-degree standard point angle and web-thinned tip reduce entry force and improve centering on flat and curved workpieces. Right-hand spiral flutes evacuate chips efficiently throughout the cut.
This drill bit is intended for use in drill presses, milling machines, and lathes equipped with a No. 3 Morse Taper spindle or sleeve. It suits medium-to-large capacity drilling tasks in ferrous and non-ferrous metals commonly encountered in machine shops, fabrication facilities, and heavy industrial maintenance settings. Its general-purpose performance rating makes it a practical choice for shops that require a dependable production drill without specialty coatings. The Series 2410 designation places it within a standardized line of taper shank drills built to ASME B94.11M specifications.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or production drill for spindles and sleeves accepting a No. 3 Morse Taper shank. Suitable for use in drill presses, lathes, and milling machines with compatible taper bores.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel familiar with Morse Taper tooling. Before mounting, ensure the spindle taper bore and shank are clean and free of chips, oil, or burrs to achieve proper seating and prevent slippage under load. Power down and lock out the machine before inserting or removing the bit. Use a proper drift and drift slot to safely eject the taper shank — never strike the chuck or spindle directly.
