The CLEVELAND C11699 is a wire-gauge jobber length drill bit sized at number 45 (0.0820 inches decimal), designed for precision drilling in metalworking and fabrication applications. Built from heavy-duty high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, this bit features a 135-degree split point with web thinning for fast engagement and reduced walking on entry. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.0820 inches in diameter and 1.0000 inches in length. Overall length is 2.125 inches, with a spiral flute length of 0.750 inches. Right-hand cut geometry and a regular spiral type make this a standard-duty tool suited for use in drill presses and hand drills. It meets NAS 907 Type B standards and is sold individually per package.
This drill bit is primarily intended for drilling aluminum and similar non-ferrous and light ferrous materials. The number 45 wire gauge size places it in a tight-tolerance range common in aerospace, sheet metal, and precision machining work where standard fractional drill sizes are too coarse. A 135-degree split point reduces the thrust needed to start a hole and helps maintain position on curved or sloped surfaces. The tapered web and web-thinned geometry support chip evacuation during through-hole drilling. Typical users include machinists, sheet metal workers, aircraft maintenance technicians, and general manufacturing facilities requiring consistent, repeatable hole sizing in production runs.
Designed as an OEM-style jobber length drill bit for use in standard drill presses, CNC drilling operations, and hand-held power drills accepting straight-cylindrical shanks. Specified for primary workpiece material: aluminum per supplier attribute data.
Installation and use of drill bits should be performed by qualified machinists or tradespeople familiar with proper speeds and feeds for high speed steel tooling. Secure the workpiece fully before drilling to prevent movement. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve hole finish. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace any bit showing chipping or excessive wear to avoid workpiece damage or bit breakage.
