The CLEVELAND C09721 is a high-speed steel extra length drill bit designed for deeper drilling and long-reach drilling applications where standard-length bits cannot reach. Built to Series 950E specifications, it features a 0.3438-inch (11/32 inch) diameter, a 118-degree standard point angle, and a spiral flute design with a web-thinned, tapered web configuration. The oxide finish provides a measure of surface protection. With a 10-inch overall length and a 7.5-inch flute length, this bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling in ferrous materials. It is installed by machinists, pipefitters, ironworkers, and general trade professionals using standard drill presses or hand-held electric drills.
This bit is built for deeper-hole work in cast iron and steel. The extended flute length of 7.5 inches allows chips to clear effectively over longer reach distances. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks without adapters, making it easy to deploy in common shop and field equipment. The right-hand cutting direction is the industry standard. Typical applications include drilling through structural steel, cast iron housings, and heavy-gauge fabrications where a jobber-length bit would bottom out before completing the bore.
Designed for general-purpose drilling in cast iron and steel. Suitable for use in standard drill presses and hand-held electric drills with chucks that accept a straight cylindrical shank of 11/32 inch diameter.
This bit is installed and operated by machinists, pipefitters, and general trade professionals. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling and confirm the drill chuck is tightened to prevent slippage. Use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling cast iron or steel to extend tool life and manage heat buildup. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use, as a dull bit increases heat and can damage both the bit and the workpiece.
