The CLEVELAND C08668 is a taper length drill bit engineered for general-purpose drilling in ferrous metals and similar materials. Built from high-speed steel with a coated finish, it delivers extended wear life compared to uncoated alternatives. The bit features a 118-degree standard point angle, a spiral flute with web-thinning, and a tapered web configuration that improves chip evacuation and reduces thrust in production drilling. With a 3.0-inch flute length and 5-3/8-inch overall length, it provides greater reach than jobber-length bits in the same wire size, making it well suited for through-hole drilling in thicker stock. This is a right-hand cut, straight-shank drill bit sized to No. 30 wire gauge, equal to 0.1285 inch in decimal.
The C08668 is intended for use in alloy steel, carbon steel, and cast iron applications where a longer flute length is needed to reach depth or clear chips effectively. The straight shank seats in standard drill chucks on benchtop drill presses, hand drills, and machine tool spindles without requiring a taper adapter. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, maintenance mechanics, and industrial tradespeople will find this bit appropriate for production and repair drilling where a jobber-length bit falls short. It meets ASME B94.11M and DIN 340 standards, confirming dimensional consistency for interchangeable use.
Designed as a general-purpose taper length replacement or supplemental drill bit for use with standard straight-shank drill chucks compatible with 0.1285-inch shank diameter tooling. Rated for drilling alloy steel, carbon steel, and cast iron.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tradespeople familiar with drill press and handheld power tool operation. Secure the straight shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before drilling. Always wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece to prevent movement. Consult applicable shop safety standards and machine manufacturer guidelines for proper speeds and feeds when drilling ferrous metals.
