The CLEVELAND C04481 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-volume drilling in metalworking and general machining applications. Manufactured from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it features a 118-degree standard point angle and a web-thinned tip that reduces thrust and improves penetration at the start of the cut. The bit measures 13/64 inch (0.2031 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 2.25 inches, making it shorter than a jobber-length bit for increased rigidity and reduced deflection in tight-clearance or high-speed setups. Two spiral flutes with regular helix geometry evacuate chips efficiently during the cut.
Screw machine length drill bits like the C04481 are used in production machining, turret lathes, CNC machining centers, and bench drill presses where a short, stiff tool is preferred. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly into standard drill chucks and collets. Primary workpiece materials include alloy steel and aluminum. The short flute length and parallel web configuration make this bit well suited for repetitive drilling in automated or semi-automated production environments where consistent hole quality is required.
Designed as a general-purpose screw machine length drill bit for use in standard drill chucks and collets accepting a 0.2031-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for drilling alloy steel and aluminum workpieces.
Install into a drill chuck or collet rated for the shank diameter and secure firmly before operation. Ensure the workpiece is properly clamped before beginning the cut to prevent rotation or movement. Inspect the cutting edges and web before use — a chipped or worn edge will affect hole tolerance and surface finish. Follow applicable shop safety practices and machine manufacturer guidelines when operating drill presses or CNC equipment.
