The CLEVELAND C04434 is a screw machine length (stub length) drill bit sized to wire gauge No. 29, with a decimal diameter of 0.1360 inches. Built from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it features a 118-degree standard point angle and a two-flute right-hand spiral design. The shortened overall length of 1-15/16 inches gives it greater rigidity than jobber-length bits, reducing deflection and chatter in production drilling operations. Web-thinned geometry lowers thrust requirements at the point. This bit is used by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and production floor technicians working in metal fabrication environments.
The C04434 is suited for general-purpose drilling in alloy steel and aluminum on drill presses, CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and hand-held power tools where short-length rigidity is an advantage. The straight-cylindrical shank with a diameter of 0.1360 inches fits standard collets and drill chucks without modification. Its Series 2120 designation places it within a recognized general-purpose HSS stub drill family. Typical applications include tapping pilot holes, clearance holes, and through-hole production work in light to medium alloy and aluminum stock.
Designed as a general-purpose screw machine length drill bit for use in standard drill chucks and collets accepting a 0.1360-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for drill presses, machining centers, and hand-held power tools used in metal fabrication on alloy steel and aluminum workpieces.
This bit is installed by machinists and production technicians. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify concentricity to avoid runout at small diameters. Ensure the workpiece is properly clamped before drilling. Use cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material to extend tool life, particularly when drilling alloy steel.
