The CLEVELAND C01048 is a jobber-length twist drill bit sized to wire gauge 62, with a decimal diameter of 0.0380 inches. Built from high speed steel with an oxide coating, this bit is designed for general-purpose drilling in ferrous materials including cast iron and steel. It features a standard 118-degree split point, a two-flute regular spiral configuration, and a web-thinned, tapered web for improved chip clearance and reduced walking on entry. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.0380 inches in diameter with a shank length of 0.875 inches. Overall length is 1.5 inches. Licensed HVAC technicians, plumbers, machinists, and electricians reach for bits in this size range for precision pilot holes and small-diameter penetrations in metal fabrication and service work.
The C01048 is suited for production and maintenance drilling in residential and light commercial applications. Its general-purpose grade and ASME B94.11M and DIN 338 compliance make it appropriate for use with standard drill presses, hand drills, and CNC equipment where tight-tolerance small-diameter holes are required. The oxide finish provides moderate lubricity and corrosion resistance during dry or light-fluid cutting operations. This bit is sold individually with a minimum order of 10 units.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or stock drill bit for use with standard drill chucks accepting a 0.0380-inch straight-cylindrical shank, suitable for drilling cast iron and steel workpieces.
Install and remove this bit only with the drill fully powered down and the chuck key removed from the chuck. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling to prevent rotation or walking. Use cutting fluid or a lubricant appropriate for the base material when drilling steel to extend bit life and maintain hole tolerance. Dispose of worn bits safely as the high speed steel tip poses a sharps hazard.
