The CLE-LINE C74012 is a high-speed steel jobber-length drill bit designed for production and maintenance drilling in steel and cast iron. It measures 6.50 mm (0.2600 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 3.9800 inches and a flute length of 2.4800 inches. The split-point geometry at 135 degrees reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust force, making it well-suited for hand-feed and machine-feed applications. A black oxide and gold coating provides lubricity and mild corrosion resistance during service. The straight cylindrical shank and regular spiral flute pattern are consistent with ASME B94.11M and DIN 338 standards.
The C74012 is intended for drilling steel and cast iron in both production shop and field maintenance settings. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio suits through-hole and moderate-depth drilling in structural components, fabricated assemblies, and mechanical equipment. With a maximum drilling depth of 0.6400 inches and a shank diameter of 0.2600 inches, it fits standard drill chucks and CNC toolholders in the fractional and metric size range of 0.2500 to 0.3000 inches. It is used by machinists, millwrights, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians on metal fabrication and repair work.
Designed as a jobber-length replacement drill bit for use in standard 3-jaw drill chucks, keyed chucks, and CNC toolholders accepting straight-shank bits in the 0.2500 to 0.3000 inch diameter range. Primary workpiece materials are steel and cast iron.
Installation and use of this drill bit is performed by machinists, millwrights, and maintenance trades using drill presses, hand drills, or CNC machining centers. Secure the straight shank firmly in the chuck before operation and verify runout is within acceptable tolerance. Ensure the workpiece is clamped securely to prevent movement during cutting. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; apply cutting fluid manually at the drill point when drilling ferrous materials at extended depths.
