The CLE-LINE C66029 is a 1/2 inch cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in hard and abrasive materials. Built on the Series 1501-TT platform, it features a 135-degree split point that self-centers on contact, reducing walking and allowing faster penetration without a center punch. The titanium nitride (TiN) coating reduces friction and extends tool life compared to uncoated high-speed steel. A two-flute spiral configuration with a tapered, web-thinned design improves chip evacuation and maintains cutting efficiency through deeper passes. At 6 inches overall length with a 4.5-inch flute length, it fits standard drill chucks and magnetic-base units used across metalworking and mechanical trades.
This bit is suited for drilling alloy steel, carbon steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous metals in fabrication, maintenance, and field service applications. The straight cylindrical shank with a 0.5 inch diameter seats securely in any 1/2 inch or larger keyed or keyless chuck. It follows ANSI specification standards and is a right-hand cutting tool, appropriate for standard drill motor operation. No coolant-through capability is required; conventional cutting fluid applied externally is compatible with this geometry.
Designed for use in standard drill presses, handheld drills, and magnetic-base drills accepting a 1/2 inch straight shank. Primary workpiece materials include alloy steel, carbon steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous metals.
This bit should be installed and operated by machinists, maintenance mechanics, or trade professionals familiar with rotary cutting tools. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before drilling. Apply appropriate cutting fluid externally when drilling ferrous materials to manage heat buildup. Do not exceed the drill motor rated speed or torque capacity for the shank size.
