The CLE-LINE C62064 is a 3-piece tap set covering all three standard chamfer styles - bottoming, plug, and taper - for cutting 1/2-13 UNC internal threads. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, these taps are sized at 3.375 inches overall length and carry a thread limit of H3, making them suitable for threading through-holes and blind holes in a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 4-flute geometry supports chip evacuation and thread accuracy in production and maintenance environments. Machinists, tool and die technicians, and maintenance mechanics rely on this set for consistent, in-spec tapping across common shop applications.
This tap set applies wherever a 1/2-13 UNC thread needs to be cut by hand or with a tapping machine. The three-piece combination - taper for starting, plug for general use, and bottoming for threading close to the bottom of a blind hole - covers the full range of threading scenarios in a single set. Typical install environments include machine shops, MRO facilities, fabrication shops, and field maintenance operations working on structural or mechanical fastener applications.
Designed for use wherever a standard 1/2-13 UNC internal thread is required. Compatible with hand tap wrenches, T-handle tap wrenches, and machine tapping setups that accept standard straight-shank taps in the 1/2-inch tap size range.
Use the taper tap first to start the thread, followed by the plug tap for general threading, and finish with the bottoming tap when threading to the bottom of a blind hole. Always use appropriate cutting fluid for the material being tapped to extend tap life and improve thread finish. Secure the workpiece firmly and keep the tap aligned perpendicular to the work surface throughout the operation. Back the tap off periodically to break chips and reduce the risk of tap breakage.
