The CLE-LINE C30518 is a cobalt mechanics drill bit designed for drilling into hard and difficult-to-machine materials including superalloys and titanium. Built to ASME B94.11M standards, it features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking and minimizes the need for a center punch at the start of a hole. The left-hand cutting direction makes it particularly effective for extracting broken fasteners when used with a reverse-rotation drill. The gold finish indicates a surface treatment applied during manufacturing. At 3-9/16 inches overall length with a 2-inch flute length, this is a compact mechanics-length bit suited for tight-clearance applications.
This bit is intended for use in metal fabrication, maintenance and repair, and heavy industrial settings where standard high-speed steel bits fall short. The cobalt construction maintains hardness at elevated cutting temperatures, making it a reliable choice when drilling stainless steel, Inconel, titanium, and similar high-strength alloys. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks. It is sold individually and is a fit for hand-held drills, drill presses, and magnetic base drills where a mechanics-length bit is required.
Rated for primary workpiece materials including superalloys and titanium, with material codes H, K, M, P, and S per Series 1880 classification. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct sourcing option for mechanics-length cobalt drill bits conforming to ASME B94.11M.
This drill bit is installed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and metalworkers in shop or field environments. Secure the straight cylindrical shank firmly in a drill chuck before use and verify the drill is set to reverse rotation when using the left-hand cut for fastener extraction. Use appropriate cutting fluid for extended tool life when drilling hard alloys. Follow standard shop safety practices including eye protection and work-holding procedures when operating drilling equipment.
