The CLE-LINE C20497 is an extra length, high-speed steel (HSS) twist drill bit designed for deep-hole drilling in ferrous metals and cast iron. Built to Series 1807 specifications, the bit features a 118-degree notched point with web thinning and a tapered web configuration for improved chip evacuation and reduced thrust on entry. The spiral flute geometry and oxide finish provide reliable performance in general-purpose production and maintenance drilling. At 18 inches overall length with a 14-inch flute, this bit handles applications that standard-length drills cannot reach. Installation and use are suited to machinists, millwrights, pipefitters, and industrial maintenance technicians.
This drill bit is rated for use in cast iron and steel workpieces, making it appropriate for structural fabrication, pipe fitting, and heavy equipment maintenance environments. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 1/2 inch in diameter, compatible with standard drill chucks and magnetic drill presses that accept that shank size. The right-hand cutting direction and regular spiral flute type suit conventional drill press, hand drill, and fixture-mounted drilling operations. The 14-inch flute length allows deep-reach drilling without requiring extensions in most field and shop applications.
Designed for drilling cast iron and steel workpieces in general-purpose machining and maintenance applications. Compatible with any drill press, hand drill, or magnetic drill unit accepting a 1/2-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Secure the shank fully in a keyed or keyless chuck before operation and verify the chuck is tightened to prevent slippage under torque. Use cutting fluid or coolant appropriate for the workpiece material to extend bit life and control heat buildup. Right-hand rotation only - do not reverse rotation under load. Inspect the cutting edges and web thinning for wear before each use; a damaged tip should be reground or the bit replaced to maintain hole tolerance.
