The CLE-LINE C20485 is an extra length high-speed steel drill bit designed for deep-hole drilling applications where standard-length bits cannot reach. Built to Series 1807 specifications, it features a 5/16 inch diameter, an 18 inch overall length, and a 14 inch spiral flute length that clears chips efficiently during extended cuts. The 118-degree notched point with web thinning reduces entry force and centers the bit accurately on the workpiece. A black oxide finish provides mild corrosion resistance during storage and use. This bit is suited for licensed tradespeople, machinists, and field technicians who need reliable penetration through thick stock or deep structural members.
The C20485 is built for drilling cast iron and steel in applications where reach is the limiting factor. Typical scenarios include drilling through deep structural steel, heavy-gauge framing, thick weldments, or stacked material assemblies. The 4 inch straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks without requiring a special adapter, making it compatible with common corded or pneumatic drill equipment found on commercial and industrial job sites.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use drill bit for standard 3/8 inch or larger keyed and keyless drill chucks accepting a 5/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron and steel per material codes K and P.
Installation of this bit is performed by machinists, HVAC technicians, pipefitters, electricians, and general tradespeople using standard drill equipment. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operating, and ensure the workpiece is clamped or fixtured to prevent movement. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling steel to extend bit life and reduce heat buildup. Follow applicable shop safety and OSHA guidelines when operating rotary cutting tools.
