The CHICAGO-LATROBE 70152 is a jobber-length twist drill bit in wire gauge size 52, with a decimal diameter of 0.0635 inches. Built from high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it is designed for general-purpose drilling in cast iron and steel. The bit features a standard 118-degree split point, a web-thinned and tapered web configuration for easier penetration, and a regular spiral flute geometry that promotes chip evacuation. Overall length is 1-7/8 inches with a 7/8-inch flute length. It carries a straight-cylindrical shank and conforms to DIN 338 standards. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators are the primary users.
The 70152 is suited for production and maintenance drilling applications in cast iron and steel workpieces where a small-diameter, wire-gauge bit is required. The TiN coating extends surface hardness and reduces friction, making it appropriate for repetitive drilling cycles on ferrous materials. With a 1-inch shank length and a 0.0635-inch shank diameter, the bit seats securely in standard drill chucks and collets sized for small-diameter tooling. It is a Series 150T bit, positioned for general-purpose shop and field use.
Designed as an OEM-style general-purpose jobber-length drill bit suitable for use in any standard drill press, hand drill, or CNC machining center equipped with a chuck or collet accepting a 0.0635-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with small-diameter tooling. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; apply cutting fluid externally when drilling ferrous materials to manage heat and extend tool life. Replace the bit when point wear causes oversize holes or excessive thrust is required to maintain feed rate.
