The CHICAGO-LATROBE 52467 is a reduced shank twist drill bit engineered for general-purpose portable drilling in a wide range of materials. The cutting diameter measures 1-3/64 inches (1.0469 inches decimal) while the Weldon shank steps down to 1/2 inch, allowing the bit to seat in standard half-inch chucks and right-angle drills. Built from high speed steel with a coated finish, the 52467 carries a 118-degree split point for fast engagement and reduced walking on entry. Overall length is 6 inches with a 3-1/8 inch flute length. The two-spiral flutes run in a right-hand cut with a regular helix. Licensed HVAC, mechanical, and general trade technicians reach for this bit when drilling pilot holes, anchor holes, or service penetrations on the job.
This drill bit is suited for portable drilling applications across residential and light commercial job sites. Primary workpiece material is wood, though the high speed steel construction also handles alloy steel, carbon steel, and cast iron. The reduced shank design extends usable drilling diameter beyond the chuck capacity of a standard 1/2-inch drill without requiring a dedicated large-diameter chuck. The Weldon shank with three flats prevents rotation in the chuck under load, making it well-suited for high-torque portable drill motors.
Designed for use with portable drills fitted with a 1/2 inch chuck. Compatible workpiece materials include wood, alloy steel, carbon steel, and cast iron per Series 190F general-purpose specifications.
Installation and use of this bit is performed by licensed tradespeople or qualified technicians familiar with portable drilling equipment. Secure the Weldon shank fully in the chuck and verify all three flats are engaged before operation. Wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece before drilling. Follow applicable OSHA and site safety guidelines when operating portable drill equipment at height or in confined spaces.
