The CHICAGO-LATROBE 46737 is a jobber length drill bit designed for precision drilling in hard and abrasive materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a gold oxide coating, it delivers extended tool life in demanding applications. The 135-degree split point geometry reduces walking and requires no center punch on most surfaces. At 0.0320 inches in diameter (wire size 67) with a 1-3/8 inch overall length and a 0.5 inch flute length, this bit is engineered for tight-tolerance work where dimensional accuracy matters. A straight-cylindrical shank provides secure chuck engagement across standard drill chucks.
This bit is suited for drilling titanium, stainless steel, high-nickel alloys, and other hard metals where standard high-speed steel bits fail prematurely. The regular spiral flute design promotes chip evacuation in deep holes. Web-thinned construction reduces thrust requirements, which is critical when drilling small-diameter holes in tough substrate. Typical applications include aerospace component fabrication, maintenance and repair operations, and precision metalworking. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 12 units, making it appropriate for shop stock or field kit replenishment.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks accepting a 0.0320-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for drilling titanium and other hard primary workpiece materials per NAS 907 specification. Series 550, heavy-duty grade, within the 0.0000 to 0.0500 inch decimal inch drill bit size range.
This bit is installed and operated by machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians using handheld or bench-mounted drill equipment. Secure the straight shank firmly in the chuck before operation and verify runout is within tolerance for precision work. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling titanium and high-alloy metals to manage heat buildup and extend bit life. Do not exceed the recommended feed rate or RPM for the workpiece material and bit diameter.
