The CHICAGO-LATROBE 44425 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for left-hand cutting in general-purpose metal drilling applications. Built from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, this bit features a standard 118-degree split-point tip and a two-flute regular spiral configuration. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 25/64 inches in diameter, matching the bit diameter for consistent chuck grip. With an overall length of 5.125 inches and a flute length of 3.75 inches, it delivers adequate chip clearance for drilling through cast iron and steel. Installation is performed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals working with left-hand extraction or reverse-rotation setups.
This bit is suited for drilling cast iron and steel in both shop and field environments. Left-hand cut geometry makes it particularly useful when working with broken fasteners, studs, or bolts — the reverse rotation can back out a fastener while drilling, eliminating the need for a separate extractor in many situations. The Series 150L designation places it in a general-purpose performance tier appropriate for standard drill presses, hand drills, and reversible power tools operating in reverse. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of one.
Designed for use in standard reversible drill presses and hand-held power tools with three-jaw chucks. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron and steel. Series 150L is a general-purpose grade suited for common shop and field drilling tasks in the 0.3500 to 0.4000 inch diameter range.
Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a properly sized three-jaw chuck before operation. When using for broken fastener extraction, confirm the drill and driver are set to reverse rotation before applying cutting pressure. Wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece to prevent movement during drilling. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use and replace the bit if chipping or dullness is observed.
